My questions for the world.

Do you use alternative fuels?

Is "fill 'er up with biofuel, please" in your regular gas station dialogue? If somebody offered you a farm, would you consider growing crops to be used for biofuel production?

I don't know enough about it yet, but I'm interested in learning more. Are the prices more expensive? But do they stay steadier than gasoline or diesel prices? Or, are you reader types more the "I just bought I hybrid car" category? I think I'd like a hybrid... too bad I don't have money at the moment. LOL

Are you interested in a million different things?

Some days I feel like I am interested in far too many things. Am I the only one? Sometimes it's a good thing and other times it just seems that I must be distracted from whatever I should be doing. So, are you interested in a lot of different things?

Here's a small example of what I mean: I have a computer science degree and an extensive (and skilled) background in music, but some days I just want to learn to renovate houses, or travel around the world, or do graphic design work, or work with young people. Sometimes all of my interests and strengths converge and it's a very handy thing. Others, not so much. How is it for you?

Have you ever posted on The Friday Five?

I've been looking for other examples of what I call "question blogs" and finally managed to stumble onto a big one, The Friday Five. Have you ever answered their sets of questions?

I just answered my first set. Kind of cool! I was sure I wouldn't be the only one with this idea. But, does anybody know what the actual moniker is for these "question blogs"? So far I don't really know what the category is called, or how to easily find others. But I'll keep searching.

Are you an Armchair Quarterback?

A lot of people have heard of the term: Armchair Quarterback. Those football fanatics that know how to run their fave teams from the comfort of their homes, especially those sofas and armchairs. Are you an Armchair Quarterback?

Well, tonight I have a theory. I'm thinking that everybody is an Armchair something. Lately, due to the upcoming Canadian election, I've become something of an Armchair Politician. Or (since that sounds kind of scary) perhaps Armchair Political Scientist is a little more academic sounding. It's quite likely that I'm also an Armchair Figure Skater, and have been for years.

I believe there is some, perhaps, not-so-secret Armchair Society where people of all kind of professions and persuasions exercise their acquired knowledge and talents from Armchairs everywhere.

So naturally, my big question tonight is: are you a member of the Armchair Society? If so, what is your specialty?

Can you set your VCR?

While I don't understand how it could be so tricky (that's the techie geek in me, I figure) I've got to ask this, just to see. Can you set your VCR? (or if you don't personally own one, consider "your" replaced with "a")

We've had several different types of VCRs... and still do. *sigh* I, honestly, have conquered them all with little issue. OK - if I'm really being honest here I must admit that every so often I do the brilliant thing of taping some hour long show by setting the timer from 8:58 to 9:02 .... Yep - I tape those opening credits and then the VCR calls it a day. But this is something I believe (hope?) that I've grown out of. I'm guessing that even you competent VCR-setters have had similar experiences on rare occasion, haven't you?

I've really progressed though... I can set something up to tape off of satellite TV now. That's setting two (count 'em: two) timers to work at the same time! And so far, no 4 minute shows taped yet! ;)

OK, all you non-Canadians...

Other than those Americans who live near the border with their TV antennas at the ready, does anybody get Canadian television stations as part of a cable or satellite television package?

All my life I've watched American television (sometimes with Canadian commercials, thanks to the CRTC) but I'm guessing this influence doesn't have to go both ways. I watched a lot of Buffalo networks growing up, and am now starting to get onto Boston networks since we switched to satellite. I can watch a lot of CNN but do any non-Canadians watch CBC? I watch BBC Newsworld from time to time, used to watch TV5 from France before it was pulled from the cable lineup, and I wonder... who watches Canadian television besides people in Canada?
